Overview

The Valley of the Sun United Way established the Fair Chance Collaborative to build an ecosystem of service providers, employers, content experts and community leaders addressing the multidimensional needs of individuals with criminal records in Maricopa County.

Convening Organization

Valley of the Sun United Way serves as the host organization, leveraging local expertise to connect community organizations, employers and policymakers. The organization functions as the connective tissue across the fair chance ecosystem.

Multi-Stakeholder Convenings

The Fair Chance Collaborative provides three engagement tracks for stakeholders: Employment, Community Partners and Policy. In-person convenings offer a platform for organizations to network with peers, share best practices and success stories, and strategize around employer engagement.

Employer Engagement and Support

The Fair Chance Collaborative offers webinar series for employer cohorts seeking talent in Maricopa County. Led by fair chance employment experts, these sessions cover fundamentals including the business case for fair chance hiring, building community partnerships and implementation best practices.

Resource Hub and Website

Valley of the Sun United Way created a Fair Chance Collaborative landing page to provide resources and guidance to the broader Maricopa County community. Available resources include best practices on human-centered language, hiring processes and community partnership development.
