Delaware

Overview

Delaware’s Equitable Hiring Initiative connects Wilmington residents to quality jobs while equipping employers with hiring systems that identify and activate overlooked talent. The initiative improves retention, productivity and innovation at participating businesses while stimulating statewide economic growth.

Convening Organization

The Responsible Business Initiative for Justice (RBIJ) serves as the host organization, leveraging national expertise and Delaware connections to coordinate efforts across the ecosystem. The initiative’s collaborative structure unites community-based organizations, workforce and education providers, local credible messengers, employers and policymakers with nonpartisan support.

Multi-Stakeholder Convenings

Delaware’s approach includes monthly movement-building convenings featuring stakeholder roundtables and innovative formats such as speed networking sessions paired with Partnership Assessment Tools. These gatherings enable employers and community partners to co-design solutions, uncover alignment and build authentic pipelines to individuals with criminal records and overlooked talent while reducing service provider redundancy.

Employer Engagement and Support

The Equitable Hiring Series, developed and led by Jobs for the Future (JFF), provides multi-session training and technical assistance rooted in real-time data from employer assessments and focus groups. The curriculum equips participating businesses with strategies to implement skills-first hiring practices.

Anchor Supporters

JPMorganChase and Capital One support this work, demonstrating shared commitment to economic equity and community-rooted hiring models.
