The Beacon of Hope Business Alliance is a collaborative ecosystem of businesses, human services organizations and correctional entities in Greater Cincinnati committed to advancing second chance employment. The Alliance assesses employer readiness and commitment to second chance employment while collaborating with local organizations to provide services that help overcome structural barriers for individuals with criminal records.
Convening Organization
Founded in 2016, the Alliance was established to expand second chance hiring practices and support employers implementing new policies. The initiative emerged from Nehemiah Manufacturing’s success in building a business model centered on hiring individuals with criminal records and providing the wraparound supports needed for long-term retention and advancement.
Resource Hub
The Alliance engages employers by focusing on key success factors, including building internal buy-in, reviewing HR policies and identifying appropriate social service partners. Members have access to frequently asked questions, consultation services, workshops and peer collaboration opportunities that facilitate knowledge sharing and problem-solving.

The Alliance distinguishes itself through its comprehensive approach to employer readiness, ensuring that businesses not only commit to second chance hiring principles but also have the infrastructure and partnerships necessary to support successful employment outcomes for individuals with criminal records.
